IMP. made their worldwide digital debut with the single "CRUISIN’" on August 18.
IMP. is a seven-member group comprised of former IMPACTors members Kageyama Takuya, Sato Arata, Yokohara Yuki, Matsui Minato, Tsubaki Taiga, Motoi Shunsuke, and Suzuki Taiga. They decided to challenge themselves to a new form of entertainment by joining Takizawa Hideaki's new company TOBE last month.
"CRUISIN'" is a fun dance number that incorporates English phrases, rap, and EDM build-up. In its MV, you can see the members deliver a perfectly coordinated performance while dressed in all pink.
There have also been some buzz about the creators of "CRUISIN'." It was written by Okada Maria, and composed by Avin, Slay, Chase, and Rocoberry from South Korea. Avin (25) is a DJ, producer, composer, lyricist, and singer. He made his composing debut with Younha's song "Airplane mode" in 2017. Similarly, Slay (25) is a producer, composer, lyricist, and singer. As for Chase, there isn't much information to identify him, but netizens in South Korea are speculating that he is Korean-American rapper Bryan Choi (33). He belongs to THEBLACKLABEL, an associate company of YG Entertainment.
Avin and Slay are also active as the singer-songwriter duo LAS. They provided the song "Love, This" for the hit Netflix drama series 'Nevertheless' starring Han Sohee. Recently, they were in charge of arranging IVE's hit song "After LIKE." Avin, Slay, and Chase have all worked together in the past as well. Weki Meki's song "Between Us Two," which was used in the love comedy drama 'Miracle' (2022), was written by Avin and Slay, and composed/arranged by Avin, Slay, and Chase. They have participated in LABOUM and Cherry Bullet's songs as well.
Finally, Rocoberry is a South Korean indie pop duo who is known for composing and arranging Ailee's song "I will go to you like the first snow," which was used in the mega-hit drama 'Guardian: The Lonely and Great God' (2016-2017), also known as 'Goblin.' They also composed and arranged Jimin (BTS) and Ha Sung Woon's song "with you" for the drama 'Our Blues' (2022).
Some bloggers in South Korea are praising IMP. and TOBE for working with these composers. In this sense, it appears that TOBE is showing interest in South Korean creators and hitmakers, and approaching entertainment on a global level. We are looking forward to seeing how they will progress!
