YOASOBI's new song "Watch me!" has been selected as the opening theme for the TV anime 'Witch Watch,' which will begin airing on April 6 on the MBS/TBS network.
'Witch Watch' is a whimsical magical comedy based on a popular manga with over 3 million copies in circulation, serialized in 'Weekly Shonen Jump.' The story follows Nico, who is training to become a witch, and her high school childhood friend, Morihito Otogi, who possesses the power of a demon. Nico ends up living with Morihito, and while Nico feels excitement at reuniting with her childhood friend, Morihito has a mission to protect her from a predicted disaster. The story begins with unpredictable troubles caused by Nico's magic, their cohabitation as teenagers of different genders, and the start of a mysterious and challenging life.
Ayase, who is a fan of 'SKET DANCE,' a work by 'Witch Watch' original author Kenta Shinohara, expressed his honor in participating in this collaboration. Regarding the newly written song for the anime, Ayase explained, "I focused on the pure, romantic feelings that the protagonist, Nico Wakatsuki, has for her childhood friend, Morihito Otogi. I really love Nico as a character, and I think the song reflects her cuteness and affection toward Morihito."
A promotional video featuring a portion of the song has been released on YouTube.
