Netflix has released the main trailer and key visual for its upcoming original series 'The Gas Man' ('Gas Ningen'), starring Shun Oguri and Yu Aoi.

A reboot of the classic Toho film 'The Human Vapor,' the series begins with a shocking incident in which a person suddenly swells up and explodes during a live tv broadcast. The culprit is a mysterious "Gas Man" who can transform his body into gas and pass through just about any obstacle. As he carries out a series of murders and taunts authorities with advance warnings of his crimes, fear gradually spreads throughout society.

Oguri stars as detective Kenji Okamoto, while Aoi plays journalist Kyoko Kono. Suzu Hirose and Kento Hayashi portray siblings who work as online content creators, while Yutaka Takenouchi appears as a businessman with yakuza background. Model UTA makes his acting debut as the Gas Man.

The newly released footage features a chilling message from the Gas Man, who announces plans to reveal his methods, motives, and next target during a press conference. As Okamoto and Kono race to uncover the truth, victims continue to disappear one after another.

Filming took place between September 2024 and April 2025. The production scouted more than 1,000 location and filmed at approximately 120 locations. After more than a year and a half of negotiations, it became the first Japanese film or television project to completely shut down the area in front of Tokyo Station for filming.

The series, consisting of eight episodes, will premiere exclusively on Netflix worldwide on July 2. It is directed by Shinzo Katayama, with Yeon Sang-ho serving as executive producer and co-writer alongside Ryu Yong-jae.
