Hughes brothers to make AKIRA movie

Albert Hughes and Allen Hughes, most commonly known as the Hughes brothers are talented film directors, producers and screenwriters in America. Their most recent movie “The Book of Eli” starring Denzel Washington was a hit at the box office.

Recently the Japanese media contacted them for an interview and the Hughes brothers announced that they’re currently working on making a movie based on popular Japanese manga / animation “AKIRA.” Director Albert Hughes stated, “I fell in love with the animation back in 1994 and became a huge fan of AKIRA.”

In the past, there was rumors that they would be making this movie, but this is the first time that it’s been confirmed to the media.

AKIRA was a manga written by Katsuhiro Otomo. In 1988, Otomo directed the animation movie “AKIRA.”

I will give them that they are great producers.. but animes are hard enought to make into a live action movie.. and with an anime such as AKIRA they will have their work cut out for themt to keep it as true to the actual story as possible. I am excited to see the out come :)
