Popular Korean group BIGBANG has received an award titled the "Global Unity Award" from the New York office of "Kokuren no Tomo (United Nations)." "Kokuren no Tomo Asia Pacific Global Tolerance with Music 2010" was held on July 24th at Universal Studios Japan in Osaka. BIGBANG had the honor of being awarded for a charity concert they held in the Spring to raise a donation fund for the rehabilitation of Haiti.

The message on the award reads:

"No time is more appropriate and important than now for the recognition of remarkable endeavor by BIGBANG to support the Haiti Rehabilitation efforts. The Republic of Haiti was struck by a major earthquake on January 12, 2010. BIGBANG made a heart-full donations raised at their concerts in this spring. Such outstanding contributions show great tolerance and promote Unity of the humanity around the world. In recognintion of our outstanding services, I would like to present the Global Unity Awards to BIGBANG on behalf of the Friends of the United Nations. Dr. Noel J. Brown"
