Jazz group Quasimode to release 1st single with beatboxer AFRA

Jazz band Quasimode are all set to release their very first single, “WHISKY’S HIGH feat. AFRA”, on December 8th.

It’s been a year since their last album, “daybreak”, but these highly talent musicians have collaborated with AFRA from AFRA & Incredible BeatBox Band to deliver a refreshing sound. Despite the group’s numerous and previously released albums, this will be their first single.

The coupling song will be a live version of Miles Davis’s “So What” and a remix of “Take the New Frontier” from their third album. As an added bonus, a DVD featuring the PV for the cover of disco classic, “Light My Fire” will be included.

Based in Tokyo, Quasimode is a jazz band that was formed in 2002. The group’s sound revolves around jazz rhythms from the 60s and 70s, and they’ve been compared to Soil & “Pimp” Sessions and Sleepwalker. Quasimode is comprised of members Yusuke Hirado (piano and keys), Takahiro “mattz” Matsuoka (percussion), Kazuhiro Sunaga (bass), and Sounosuke Imaizumi (drums).
