“Nippon no Arashi” is available on the internet… for a high price

Back in September, tokyohive reported on a book titled “Nippon no Arashi“- a 200 colored-page book of Arashi members introducing Japanese culture and its beauty as tour navigators. Since the book was donated to over 40,000 schools and was expressly unavailable for purchase, the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism received more than 100 calls a day from fans who pleaded for its distribution.

For those fans who really, really covet it, they can find “Nippon no Arashi” on an internet auction site for  the steep price of  ¥80,000 (approximately $985.00). The description affirms that the book is real, and that it can not be found anywhere else.   It’s not clear where the book was leaked.

Although this shows the strength of Arashi’s popularity, the members will likely be upset about this.

  • ringrie

    that’s the power of arashi

  • Celebration

no way in h@@@ would i buy that crap. not for that price are you crazy!!!! Good Job Arashi for having those kind of fans. But I wouldn’t spend that much money on something that is more useful. But people spend money on stupider things.

  • bbgirl

Who even has that amount of cash lying around to spend on that? I love Arashi but I mean, there’s a monetary limit on my love. XDD

  • debx3

The boys would be really upset.

  • iriskahlia

As tourism navigators, Arashi volunteered for this project and those books were given to the schools and NOT meant to sold! That means, someone somehow got hold of the book (“stole”)and now selling it for a ridiculous price! Obviously taking advantage of Arashi’s popularity without shame.

The boys only meant good, how the hell it had to come to this?

    SAD.

  • AnNguyen

Wow that’s a lot for a book O.o But it’s an auction anyways and those who bits on auction have a lot of money for some reason lol
I wonder if it’s a student that has leaked the book? Lol I mean the book was only given to those 40.000 schools.. Hope this won’t encourage other students to do something like this.. Agree it must be upsetting for Arashi if they found out that their donated book has been auctioned :/

  • jdene

Pricing it like that is upsetting
who the heck would buy a book priced so insanely?
i agree the boys would be upset hearing the price of the book
i was thinking expensive like 200 dollars or something but not that outrageous

  • KATTUNnoARASHI

I can see it now…some fan buys the book and all of those lovely pictures get posted all over the internet. THUS…the book loses it’s intrinsic value to those who wanted it kept so exclusive.

  • Smiles1471

Some joker will by it. – Its outrageous!

  • naneun nabiyeyo

    whaaaaaa?
not too wise, no one’s gonna buy that. wait, lemme rephrase that – no one but the hardcore fans are gonna buy that.

  • arashi_oneday

Well, that’s not really an insane price considering it’s an auction and this is a rare Arashi book we are talking about. It’s sad that someone stole the book and did this =( The book is meant to teach children about Japan, not encourage people to steal it and sell it for a ridiculous price. Sigh, I hope this does not happen again. Obviously, the guys will be upset =(

  • chocomaxfactor

I love all things Arashi, but I have a feeling they would get pissed about this, since they wanted it to be special for those kids . . . I wouldn’t buy it even if I had the money

  • yassie

just a thought, i bet arashi fan mothers must never been so happy like this having a school-aged kid, only time you’ll ever see your mom opening and “studying” your book!
