GANTZ Movie to be released in America

Ninomiya Kazunari from Arashi and actor Matsuyama Kenichi made an appearance at the premiere screening for the upcoming movie “GANTZ” at the Tokyo JCB Hall earlier today. The movie is scheduled to open in Japanese theaters on January 29, 2011.

During the press conference, there was a special announcement that the movie “GANTZ” will also be released in the United States on January 20, 2011. Altogether, the movie will open in 300 theaters across America. They also announced that “GANTZ” will be released in the United States one week earlier than Japan.

After the announcement was made, Ninomiya commented, “There are so many people in the world who love GANTZ, and GANTZ fans will be happy… its a great thing.”
Matsuyama commented, “I wonder why the movie will be released in America first. I don’t understand why Japan is later, but this will be a great opportunity.”

The second part of “GANTZ” will be released on April 23rd, 2011. Gantz is based on Oku Hiroya’s manga of the same title, which follows the lives of two male students who were involved in a train accident but were brought back to life by GANTZ.

    Awesome! Is it going to be dubbed/subbed as well. Cause as much as I love Gantz, it’s no fun if I don’t completely understand what’s going on.

    YESSSSSSSS!! I was literally talking about how badly I want to see this like, a day ago, and now it’s happening!! I hope they’ll show it near where I live… even if it’s in San Francisco I’m SOOOOO going to see this!!!

OMFG WHY DOES CANADA NEVER GET THESE OPPORTUNITIESSSS?!?!?! omg, I so wanna watch this (Nino’s in it ofc it’s gonna be awesome <3 and well the trailer's pretty impressive) TT___TT But I also don't get why it would open up in America first =/ That doesn't make sense at all.

    Well there are movies and albums that are made in the States but get released to other places first (dunno why but yeah… I think a couple of Ayu’s albums were released in like Singapore before they were released in Japan… And Ayamada Yu was able to see Tron in Japan and it’s not out yet here lol) but the movie is only released in in selected theaters so not everyone will be able to see it. I think it will be subbed at least… if Nino mentioned the manga had many fans worldwide, so why wouldn’t it be subbed in English in the States? Never read the manga (heard of it though) but I would be interested to see it in theaters (possibly a Loews before 12pm)

    I love Gantz! one of my favorite mangas ever and I liked the anime too ;)
    I’m looking forward to watch this movie… hope it’s just as good as the anime or the manga
    I live in Chile, so I’m gonna have to wait until the dvd comes ou *sighs*

    I can’t believe it! I am so happy to be living in the US ^^ But 1 thing I really wish is for it to be NOT English dubbed..that would just ruin the whole movie, and it would ruin Nino >.< Either way, I'm going to go see it!

    *It's so weird that they release movies faster than in Japan…they did the same thing for Yatterman in New York..

    @31: I have a feeling they will dub it. You rarely see a movie in the U.S. with just the subtitles added on.

    Went to see the movie and it was amazing~~~~~~! I love it, the only thing I didn’t like much was the dubbing, it was like they didn’t even try with the dubbing. But the movie itself was amazing and the interview after was frickin hilarious and they did a really good job and I can’t wait till part two. Keep up the good work!
