Ever since Utada Hikaru announced that she would be taking a break from her music career, fans have been celebrating the release of her new single collection with a slightly melancholic air. Yet there’s been considerable excitement surrounding her new song, “Goodbye Happiness“.

Fans haven’t heard any new Japanese material from Hikki since the release of her last album “HEART STATION“, back in 2008. So without further ado, here’s the new track. Take a listen!

It’s also been announced that the official PV for the new track will begin airing on November 9th.

Additionally, the singer will begin one of her most extensive promotional efforts in years by appearing on various radio programs such as McDonald’s TOKIO HOT 100 on J-WAVE (11/21) and FM-FUJI’s “STADIUM ROCK!” (11/27). TV stations such as SPACE SHOWER TV will also begin special programs commemorating her career by airing all of her PVs thus far.

That’s not all though – for fans who pre-order the single collection before November 14th, a new bonus DVD will be included, which contains the PV for “Goodbye Happiness“. Although it’s been confirmed that those who pre-ordered through HMV Japan and Tower Records will be getting the DVD, it’s not yet clear whether orders from other sites such as CDJapan and Neowing will receive the special promotion.

“Utada Hikaru Single Collection Vol. 2” is set for release on November 24th.
