TheRecording Industry Association of Japan (RIAJ) has announced that AKB48's 18th single "Beginner", which was released on October 27th, has earned the certification of "Million" on November 10th.
This is the first time that any AKB48 song has ever reached the "Million" mark, and it has been three years and two months since any single CD has been certified as "Million" by the RIAJ. The last to accomplish this feat was "Sen no Kaze ni Natte" (released in August 2007) by Akikawa Masafumi.
As we reportedearlier, "Beginner" sold 827,000 copies in the first week, and it's the best record among all female group for the sales in the first week of release.
For 2010, only Arashi's album, "Boku no Miteiru Fukei", and AKB48's single, "Beginner", are certified as "Million" for now.
