Ex-Takarazuka top star, Wao Youka, to challenge herself through “Dracula”

Takarazuka Otokoyaku’s former top star (from the Cosmos Troupe), Wao Youka has been chosen to play Count Dracula for the musical “Dracula“, scheduled to begin in August 2011.  This will be the first time for Wao to play a male role after she left the Takarazuka Revue in 2006, and she will be the first woman to play this role.

The musical “Dracula” premiered on Broadway back in 2004, and it’s based off Bram Stoker’s classic gothic novel.

Wao commented, “I want to show the evolution from my Otokoyaku days in Takarazuka Revue.”

    OMG YES. Its been a LONG time since I’ve really been active but OMG ANYTHING FOR YOUKA WAO! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HER. When she was a top star, I had the HUGEST girl crush on her. WAY HOT & ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. And I’ll be all moved & settled in Japan by the time this begins AND I AM SO THERE. I know what I’ll be doing during my summer vacation!

    hhahaha I just studied Takarazuka in class, we even got to talk with an ex top-star and went to see For whom the Bell doth told (i think thats how you spell it?) in the actual takarazuka theater in Kyoto! *___*

    and as many other “male” characters,

    I’m sure that she is going to do an awesome awesome job and even better than she did in Takarazuka,
    she’s my favorite Otokoyaku, I would’ve liked to see Mari Hanafusa as the female lead to see the “Golden Combi” together again but I settle for just Wao-san
    I can’t wait i hope that I get to see this online soon ^^
