Flash animation “Kimi to Boku” to be released as live-action movie starring Nakamura Aoi
The popular indie flash animation, “Kimi to Boku (You and I)”, has been picked up for a live-action adaptation!
Originally created by Yamagara Shigeto back in 2001, “Kimi to Boku” tells the true story of a 10-year relationship between a cat named “Ginougou” and the owner who dreamed of becoming a manga-ka. Viewers followed the story from their first encounter until their final farewell, the site accumulated over 4,800,000 hits. The story became so popular in fact, that it was also released as a book in January of 2009.
Although the animation is 10 minutes long, the movie will run for 45. Regarding casting, actor Nakamura Aoi has been slotted to play the owner, while famed seiyuu/singer Maaya Sakamoto will voice the cat. Sakamoto will also sing the film’s theme song, “Tegami“, which will be included in her upcoming album “You can’t catch me.”
Fans who’ve watched the original can rest assured, as almost all the scenes will focus on Aoi and the cat.
In an attempt to express how poignant the story is, Nakamura (who owns a dog) confessed, “Although I have been a dog lover, I ended up as a cat lover because of the movie.”
