Arashi stars in their own manga!

Arashi appeared in the February 3rd issue of Japanese newspaper Asahi Shimbun, presenting an interesting new “image” of themselves.

A special Arashi comic,  titled “ARASHI meets MANGA,” took up eight pages of the paper on this particular issue. Each member of the group was drawn by a different artist. The artists were Matsumoto Taiyou (author of the manga “Tekkonkinkreet“) drew Ninomiya Kazunari, “Honey and Clover” author Umino Chika drew Sakurai Shou, “Hana Yori Dango” (AKA “Boys Over Flowers”) artist Kamio Yoko drew Matsumoto Jun, “Kaibutsu-kun” author Fujio Fujiko drew  Ohno Satoshi, and “Bartender” author Nagatomo Kenji drew Aiba Masaki – no surprise. Fortunately for them, they were portrayed in a much more flattering fashion than another celebrity who was recently drawn into a manga.

The members of Arashi also wrote down their thoughts about their own manga, making it an article that no fan could miss while reading the paper that day.

    wow, they are all so alike to the real ones and look really good *mah,Oh-chan’s has it’s own style ;) *
    I’m a big fan of the Sho-chan drawing, not only is it a perfect portrayal, but it looks soooooo good, too.~
    Nino’s looks kinda classical,conciderind the art…..
    all different, but come together as one, like with Arashi as a band…..NICE IDEA!!! xD

    Umino Chika! One point perspective ftw <3 Maybe it's the hairstyle, but Sakurai reminds me of Mayama in Honey & Clover rather than Takemoto here 8D

    Still, it's a great idea of having the managka draw those who starred in their live action adaptations :D Nino's expression here is full of win haha.

    oh well yes, its such an honor for Arashi to be drawn by those respectable famous Mangakas BUT why Fujio-sama drew Riida like a fat old man (O__0) & Nino’s eyes -__- ? still Thanks to them. I would LOVE to have the newspaper on my hands NOW!!!

    I love this new spiced up for Arashi as “face of Japan” campaign…Good job, Japan!!!

    I think Sho’s look the cutest! I really like that manga artist’s style. Nino’s looks pretty good too.

    among these mangaka, i have great respect for Matsumoto Taiyou’s and Umino Chika’s art, especially Umino sensei, this author have a very deep meaning in her works. WOW. Arashi is really like a boom now. it’s great that my fav mangaka drew my fav arshi’s member. ^^

    The drawing of Sho is really really Honey and Clover style. I like how they are drawn in each artist’s style =] I like nice and pretty characters xD So my favorites would be Aiba-chan and Jun <3 I think Nino and Jun ones are the most similar. I would LOVE to have a copy of this newspaper 8D First Arashi jet, then Arashi book and now Arashi manga 8D (there are million other things out there but some of the most impressive ones are these imo) I wonder what else they will bring us <3

    Well Aiba looks nothing like that honestly (just look like a random manga character) & Jun’s eyes aren’t like that…but I think that could be the manga-ka drawing style. But I think with Nino’s the eyes were the one features that were captured more than any other feature. It could almost be passed as a caricature… almost

    …Ohnos…doesnt look that great, like the drawing made him look like a creeper. The rest of them look sooo good, I love the idea of having the artist of the manga, that they did dramas for, draw them. Super Clever..but poor Ohno..

    I would say Jun’s piece is the most alike among all of them. Aww, but I like honey and clover drawing art style. Sho looked so well drawn with detailed. I miss Nino’s tekkon kinkreet show though when I saw the piece haha. Aiba looks pretty nice in the piece though, is bartender after all. Finally Ohno, haha probably not use to kaibutsu manga style but still pretty cool isn’t it haha.

    love how all the characters actually look like them but all artists still manage to keeping their unique drawing style ^^ Love all of them ! Can’t even pick a favourite ^^ But I love how the HYD-manga artist has grap ahold of Jun’s expression in the third pic ^^ She did very well to portray him, but then again she is his fan so yeah.. xD

    I find it so ironic that the Hana Yori Dango artist drew Jun Matsumoto, seeing as he played Domyouji in the drama. BAHAH. <3 And I don't think Aiba Masaki looks anything like his anime-self. AND! Awww! I really like Sakurai Sho's! Honey and Clover style is adorable. <3

    Very cool concept though, I like seeing the differences between all the different styles :D
