Downtown’s Matsumoto Hitoshi sues “FLASH” magazine
Talent/comedian Matsumoto Hitoshi is planning on suing “FLASH” magazine for damaging his reputation. The lawsuit is going through Tokyo’s district courts, and he’s demanding Kobunsha (owner of FLASH) to pay 11 million yen (~134,500 USD) and release an article with an apology. The case was presented on January 7th.
The problem in question revolves around the September 7th, 2010 issue of the magazine. Matsumoto had then taken a break from work due to the inflammation of his left hip joint. In August 2010, he returned back to work, and “FLASH” reported that night Matsumoto was partying in Tokyo and Shinjuku instead of resting.
Matsumoto’s side stated, “After a business meeting for work, Matsumoto returned straight home, the people who read this extremely ungrounded and careless article were given the impression that Matsumoto was acting with no principles.”
Kobunsha only said, “We’re in the middle of a dispute, so we can’t make that many comments.”
