Asian Kung-Fu Generation's Gotou Masafumi has written and recorded a song called "Suna no Ue", or "Above the Sand", aimed at volunteers and rescue workers in the disaster area. The song can be heard here on their official site.
Gotou wrote, "This song is aimed at those taking action toward reconstruction and those lending their hands to help in the disaster area. I performed and recorded this sitting on my bed, with an acoustic guitar, a battery operated Casio keyboard, and clapping my hands against the guitar and floor.
We are always on unstable ground, like being 'above the sand.' Even so, we have to be heard. For me personally, if I didn't sing right now, there would be no meaning in being a musician. I hope that somehow everyone's simple feelings and wishes and prayers and love will be heard everywhere, and be the first step to a bright future.
P.S.
To those who liked the song or were moved by it, if you are able, please donate to the disaster relief funds."
