MONKEY MAJIK’s Blaise Plant blogs about volunteer experience + celebrates birthday

MONKEY MAJIK
member Blaise Plant recently updated his official blog with pictures of himself doing volunteer work, which touched his fans during this time of national crisis.

Ever since the earthquake hit, Blaise has dedicated himself to tweeting news and uplifting messages; he’s even helped his followers to locate family members. Blaise also joined the volunteer efforts in Sendai and other impacted areas, assisting with clean-up and other necessary tasks.

He wrote, “It has been an emotional week. I’ve seen people cry, towns destroyed, ships washed up on shore, and I hope I never get to see that again. But out of all this turmoil comes people working together trying to rebuild.

“It’s a slow process, but I’m sure things will turn out well. I pray for all the families who have lost loved ones, and are still looking for their loved ones.”

Blaise also celebrated his 31st birthday on March 18th. “I completely forgot it’s my Birthday…Thanks everyone! Love ya,” the singer posted through his official Twitter. His brother and fellow bandmate, Maynard Plant, made sure to purchase a cake, which added some cheer to an otherwise rough week.

Fans commented, “Happy birthday!”, “I want to be a kind and strong person like you, Blaise” and “I’m so moved by you and Maynard’s actions”.

Happy Birthday! *__* It’s really great that they’re helping out.

Stinks a bit of self promotion to me. Good that he’s doing it, but the photos aren’t really necessary. As a voluntary paramedic for almost 20 years this just gives me a sour after taste.

    So cool !

I didn’t get that vibe. And I’m not a Monkey Majik fan, so just pointing out I have so bias. Celebrities take lots of pictures anyways, especially in Japan. Fans want to know what their celebs are up to. But, even if this was a little self promotion, let’s not look a gift horse in the mouth. At least he’s out there helping. A lot of celebrities aren’t out there helping with things like clean up and stuff.

Anywho, he’s not out there saving lives or doing any paramedic work, why can’t he take pictures of the destruction and talk about what he’s doing in regards to clean up? I’m not trying to go off on a tangent here, I just don’t understand. If any other average Joe took the same pictures and posted on their facebook/twitter, nobody would care or say they are bragging. But because this guy has fans, he suddenly can’t talk about this stuff cause it’ll make him look like he has ulterior motives?

Btw, was it really necessary to point out you’ve done voluntary paramedic work for nearly 20 years? What does that have to do with this guy doing clean up? I could say your comment stinks a bit of self promotion but what good would that do? Brings me back to my original point which is not to criticize a good deed. Regardless of your or his intentions, people have been helped and that’s all that matters in the end.

Long, but I read it all :D If I’m not wrong, MONKEY MAJIK is based in Sendai, so it doesn’t seem like self promotion, but more like he wants to do something for Sendai. Not that rushing from other unaffected areas to the disaster stricken ones are always publicity stunts though, they could genuinely want to help and also by posting the photos, subtly encourage their fans to join in some hands-on work.

I saw his twitter last week, and he was posting it just to show to his fans how destructive the effect of tsunami are, and it came along with caption “hope this doesn’t happen again” or something like that..

Please don’t be so quick to judge :)

Well they do have some sort of attachment in Sendai, that place and the people were special to them.

I believe Blaise posted the pictures one by one on his Twitter. The only reason why someone would think it’s self-promotion is because it’s all displayed together. He tweets like a regular person. If you want someone to “blame”, blame it on Tokyohive lol. (Please don’t. I like tokyohive.)

I see no self-promotion here, just someone trying to help.
