"Ohisama," a new NHK morning drama which began airing on April 4th,�received an average rating of 18.4%�on its first episode. The drama stars Inoue Mao, Koura Kengo, Tanaka Kei, Nagayama Kento, and many more actors.

The drama follows the life of a young woman named Yoko, played by Inoue, who lives in the turbulent Showa era. The story takes place during pre-war times, war times, and post war times in Azumino and Matsumoto of Nagano prefecture. The title is derived from the bright smile that Yoko has, which is said to be like the sun. The drama reflects on the origin of the strong but kind Japanese women of the time.

The drama will air a total of 156 episodes during its cycle, and with positive feedback from viewers and good ratings, it looks like "Ohisama" will be another hit for NHK.
