BIGBANG kicks off their Japan tour

Yesterday and earlier today, Big Bang kicked off their Japan tour titled “BIGBANG presents ‘Love & Hope Tour 2011′” with their first two showy concerts at the Osaka Jo Hall in Osaka.

Pillars of fire, an explosion and then the curtains rose for a thrilling and fun ride featuring a performance total of 24 songs. V.I (Seungri) greeted their Japanese fans, “How are you!? Various terrible things happened since we came here from Korea, but we promised those concerts to you and that’s why we are still here!” The atmosphere among the 9,000 fans immediately reached its climax thanks to those words.

The five members of Big Bang see the tour as a way to show their support for the reconstruction after the tragic Tohoku earthquake. Unfortunately a lot of their Korean fans were too worried about their idols and even started a petition with more than 7,500 signatures, asking their agency to not let them go to Japan at all. However, the group decided that it’s more important to keep their promise they made to their Japanese fans back in February of 2010, when they announced this Japan tour.

On May 2nd, the group arrived in Japan and soon after that member G-Dragon uploaded a clip onto the Internet, assuring everyone that it is safe in Japan. Before today’s concert they also had a few minutes to talk with the press and G-Dragon commented, “With our presence here we want to let everyone know that it’s safe. I’d like the Korean people to join us and walk the road of reconstruction together with the Japanese.” He continued, “We also received fan-letters from people living in areas struck by the earthquake and tsunamis. If we get the time and chance, we’d like to go and visit those places.”

Big Bang’s Japan tour will continue through three cities, adding up to eight concerts in total and at least 102,000 happy Japanese fans.

for some reason i feel like they should focus more on korean market, they went away from kpop for a long time and didn’t do much for their comeback so i don’t know why they rushed back to Japan already…

  • AquariusVW

I suppose you have a point, but their fan base in Korea is huge already and solidified. So why not go somewhere else to solidify their fan base like they did in Korea? Plus they are supposed to comeback in the fall with another album, so they’ll be back in Korea promoting soon.

  • MinahMyu

Well I’m glad they were able to still keep their promise to do ahead with the tour.. and Id o hope they get to visit the devastated areas

  • Wowww

so happy that they kept their promise and continued on with the concerts even though there were so many against it. I think big bang realize that their japanese fanbase, especially those effected by the earthquake and tsunami, really do need some love and hope right now. big bang gambatte!!!!

  • ande12

    wow! :)))

  • Super~Nezumi

Wow, I know absolutely nothing about Bigbang BUT this dedication and respect for their fans has made me interested in them. They have my admiration for keeping their promise and sharing what they can to bring happiness to a devastated nation. And encouraging others to do the same – beyond belief at how awesome that was. **BRAVO** Good job, guys, you rock! (but really, I was hoping they’d do a promo with Pigbang too XD)

Not that interested in big bang but their decision to override the ignorance of their korean fan base makes me respect them more.

honestly. The earthquake wasn’t that bad compared to Haiti or new zealand.

(I know its big but compared to haiti? not really, this is japan we’re talking about, not some poor country)

  • MinahMyu

…it was everything after the quake that was bad. Towns were washed away… along with its communities. It wasn’t just a quake but a bad tsunami too. But we shouldn’t judge about what’s bad or not because the damage is still bad & people still are suffering now (even with Haiti too) The reason why it didn’t seem that bad because Japan’s buildings & everything/one else are prepared for earthquakes but imagine if they weren’t?

But I agree I think it was a bit selfish for some Korean fans to not have them go over there… Though if the tour was back in March I would hope they postpone instead of a complete cancellation

  • icehism

You put up a good point.

I know people are still suffering right now, but its like 2-3 months since the earthquake.

Atleast some parts are a bit repaired. If the tour was during the earthquake + tsunami + nuclear power plant meltdown, i don’t think even YG would let them go or have them consider it at all.

  • MinahMyu

Well yeah they were still having quakes/aftershocks after that… over 600+ but it would have been safe to not let many people go over there to promote (since many Korean albums, debuts, singles were postponed anyway) during all of that. I think they would have postpone if anything (because it’s still money and business in the end…) but I’m just happy they were able to go now because they are bringing lots of smiles to people and even more if they go in the Tohoku area ^^ I think that’ll really be something for the fans there to look forward to

BIGBANG really deserves the best. Especially considering how many fans they made happy
by going to Japan and keeping their words. That just shows their honest
and reliable characters they have. And as talent and music I can’t compare them
to any other groups. They manage to give me the “wouw”-factor that no other artists,
gives. I hope they have an successful tour in Japan and lots of success in the future <3
