On May 19th, actor Eita made his first appearance on the red carpet for the world premiere of his upcoming 3D historical film, "Ichimei" at the 64th Cannes International Film Festival.

The film tells the story of a kabuki actor (Ichikawa Ebizou) and his on-stage double (Eita), who fight together to be with those they love. "Ichimei" gathered much attention at the event for being the only 3D movie in its genre.

At a press conference held on the same day, film director Miike Takashi said to the audience, "It was my first time filming a 3D movie, but I feel as if we shot it... using 3D techniques unique to Japan."

"It's an honor to participate at a place like this as both an actor and a Japanese person," said Eita in a later interview with the press.
