The cast for the film adapatation of Furuya Minoru's manga, "Himizu", directed by Sono Shion, has been revealed!

Actor Sometani Shota (18) will play the protagonist Sumida Yuichi, while actress Nikaido Fumi (16) has been cast as his classmate, Chazawa Keiko

Although Furuya is known for his gag mangas, "Himizu" is a much darker story about a young boy that stops going to school and starts searching for "bad guys" after an incident.

Sometani commented, "I've always wanted to appear in a work by Director Sono. I was very happy this time, but after it was decided, I also felt fear."

Nikaido remarked, "I wanted to be appear in a movie by director Sono, so I was nervous since the audition. When I was cast as Chazawa Keiko, I was so happy, I shouted."

Regarding the film, Sono has said, "I love the original manga and has read it multiple times. I'm very honored to adapt it into a live-action film and I think it's an adventure. With the young protagonist who lies with an uncertain future, I want to make a wonderful youth film."
