Koyanagi Yuki, Nakanomori Ayako, Suzuki Naomi, and Natsuki Mari head to London!

European organization Japan Underground is holding a benefit concert in London on June 28th, and attending the concert are four of Japan’s chart topping artists: singer Koyanagi Yuki, Nakanomori Ayako (ex-Nakanomori BAND), actress and singer Suzuki Naomi, and actress and singer Natsuki Mari.

The concert will be held at McQueen in Shoreditch, and proceeds from the concert will be sent to victims of the March earthquake and tsunami. Not only that, but they will also send some of the money to Japanese living in England and around the world.

Each guest will perform their own sets, and at the end of the event, they will all perform the charity single, “HOME“, as a special unit. The single will be given away at the concert for free.

Lyrics to the song, “HOME”, were composed by Suzuki and a tsunami victim, partly over Twitter.

    Unimpressed I am.

Suzuki Anne, Fujiwara Tatsuya, Katsuji Ryo and others played Inoue’s Musashi in London’s Barbican last year (and later in NY), under Ninagawa’s leadership. That was impressive. They were sold out every night in London and had standing ovations every night. I was there. Every night the entire audience exploded in cheers. I heard it was quite the same in NY. Now that was impressive.

Also, it’s a bit sad that no British artist could get off his or her lazy ass and make a benefit concert themselves. Hey Elton John, where are you? Too old and lazy already? No, they have to import Japanese artists to get it done. Shame on you UK.

Loads of British artists did charity concert. The one at Brixton Academy which featured
Beady Eye, Paul Weller, Richard Ashcroft, Primal Scream, The Coral, Graham Coxon was huge, sold out and was televised…. and Japan Underground did a charity show right after the tsunami which had local UK based Japanese artists performing with Adam Ant headlining.

Shame on you for not knowing what you’re talking about.
