Back in April, the media went wild after it was discovered that actress Sawajiri Erika would finalize her divorce from husband Takashiro Tsuyoshi. Considering the players involved and the messy nature of their divorce, the media excitedly named the designated day (May 16th) as 'Day X'. That day passed and nothing happened, leading several journalists to simply blame her conflicting schedules for her non-submission of papers.

Four months have passed since then and... they're still not divorced.

Don't get the wrong idea. Reportedly, they absolutely don't want to have anything to do with one another anymore, but that actually seems to be main problem here.

Takashiro recently attended a film festival in Tokyo, but unfortunately, he didn't speak about the problem at hand. Instead, he talked about how the Tokyo Bay should get a beach in order to have the same atmosphere as Barcelona, Spain - his workplace.

Since neither of them want to talk about their divorce, people have turned to information given by various industry insiders.

A reporter for a weekly tabloid explained, "Takashiro already signed and sealed the official divorce registration papers and sent them to Sawajiri, but he insisted on including a certain paragraph that would allow him to speak to the media about everything that happened between the two of them since the� divorce rumors first emerged in tabloids. Sawajiri probably doesn't need any more dirty laundry while tackling her comeback as an actress, and therefore refused to hand in the papers. Unfortunately neither of them have the time - or desire - to talk with one another to settle this problem, so the entire divorce proceedings have been stalled since then."


For Takashiro, it does seems to be true that he's too busy to care about his soon-to-be-ex-wife, since he began research about new energy sources after the Tohoku earthquake, and is now working on a new book. The reporter continued, "Furthermore, he has plenty of work from overseas, making it impossible for him to find the time to talk with Sawajiri."

The latest official news report about Sawajiri was from May, when reports surfaced about the business partnership between her personal agency in Spain and avex Entertainment. Currently, nothing has come out of this partnership yet.

An insider explained, "Plans were made to announce Sawajiri's new projects right after her divorce, but since they had to wait for her divorce to actually be finalized, there was nothing to announce. However, it's said that she was casted as 'Mine Fujiko' in the upcoming live-action adaption of 'Lupin the Third'."

Sawajiri is going to attend a PR event for "syoss" on September 29th, but fans can expect the actress to remain mum about her sticky divorce situation. If these reports are true, then as long as they're both too busy and/or too stubborn to talk to each other, Sawajiri may have a difficult time moving forward with her career.
