On November 22nd, AKB48 member Maeda Atsuko attended an awards ceremony for 'VOCE BEAUTY AWARDS 2011 Best Cosmetics Grand Prix', where she received a special award for 'THE BEST BEAUTY OF THE YEAR'.

Wearing a light blue dress, Maeda expressed, "I'm surprised. I'm a girl, so I have an interest in beauty, so I'm happy. I haven't told the other members yet."

Commenting on turning 20 this year, Maeda said, "It was a year where I was able to think about how to become an adult. Next year, I want to be aware of beauty everyday, so I can become a beautiful woman." She also shared some beauty tips as well: "I'm the one who wants advice, but I think it's eating breakfast, and getting a good amount of sleep," and "I'm very particular about the corner of my eyes. Like applying thick mascara."

'THE BEST BEAUTY OF THE YEAR' is a special award that was established this year, and is given to the person who was most talked about and had a big influence in the beauty industry throughout the year. Maeda, who has appeared in numerous movies and dramas, placed first in the "AKB48 General Election" back in June. She also starred in the CM for Aesthetic TBC with fellow member Oshima Yuko and Korean actor Jang Geun Suk.
