After the first announcement and teaser in the form of still pictures, the official site of the upcoming live-action adaption of "Thermae Romae" was recently updated with a 30 second video teaser.
The movie is based on a popular manga by Yamazaki Mari and stars Abe Hiroshi and Ueto Aya.
The term 'thermae romae' actually means 'Rome's bath' and the comedic movie will depict the story of Lucius (Abe), a bath design engineer who slips through time between Ancient Rome and modern Japan. The manga itself comically portrays Luciuss struggle and shock in bringing back modern Japan bathing cultures to Ancient Rome.
Abe, being 189 cm (6'3") tall and with defined facial features, perfectly stands out as Lucius, which is nicely portrayed in the final scene of the teaser. The aforementioned scene also highlights all the effort Abe put into working out his body for the role. Ueto portrays the character of an aspiring mangaka who encounters Lucius at a public bath, but unfortunately we can't see that much of her in this first teaser.
Enjoy a quick ancient bath in the short teaser below!
