Honda Miyu shows off her skating skills

Honda Miyu (7), best known for her recent role in ‘Kaseifu no Mita‘, made an appearance in Tokyo Midtown for an ice rink opening ceremony on January 5th. There she was able to prove that she is a multi-talented individual by showing off her skating skills. Honda performed a short but smooth routine for the crowd and surprised everyone with her ability to do a double jump.

Olympic medalist Arakawa Shizuka, who also attended the event, was also impressed and remarked, “You should come to the skating world instead of being an actress,” scouting young Honda. Although during rehearsal she was able to skate a clean program, but during the actual performance she fell. Despite her fall she commented, “I messed up a little but I’m happy because I skated well” as the crowd responded in unison with “Kawaii~!“.

Honda is the fourth child of five siblings. Influenced by her eldest brother, who happens to be a designated athlete for the skating federation, Honda started ice hockey at age 3 and formally started figure skating at age 4. When she returns to her hometown in Kyoto, she spends a lot of her time figure skating with her brothers and sisters.

Arakawa commented on these super star siblings by saying, “They’re growth is exciting as the Asada sisters” emphasizing how impressed she was with Honda’s performance.
