Kishi Yusuke's SF novel "Shinsekai Yori" to get anime adaptation

On February 27th, it was announced that Kishi Yusuke�s novel �Shinsekai Yori� (broadcast date unknown) will be adapted into an anime. This Asahi TV anime will be animated by A-1 Pictures (known for works such as �Ao no Exorcist� and �Kuroshitsuji�), directed by Ishihama Masashi (previous work includes �Read or Die� and �Honey and Clover�), and written by Sogo Masashi (�Prince of Tennis�, Bleach�).

The story will be set in future Japan, 1,000 years from now. In this world, select people who hold a special ability called �Juryoku� reside in small communities or �Hacchoujime,� where their information, ideas, memories, love, and life are all controlled and regulated. Within that society, five boys and girls by the name of Saki, Satoru, Maria, Mamoru, and Shun will all go on an adventure in order to protect their loved ones and the world. It is a science fiction plot based on a novel which was recognized by countless awards, such as the �29th Nihon SF Award�, �Kono Mystery ga Sugoi! 2009� (5th place), and the �2009 Bookstore Award� (6th place).

As for the voice actors, Taneda Risa will play Watanabe Saki, Tojo Kanako as Asahina Satoru, Hanazawa Kana as Akitsuki Maria, Kudo Haruka as Ito Mamoru, and Todo Mai will play Aonuma Shun in this adaptation.
