On March 31st, AKB48 sister group SDN48 held their graduation concert, "NEXT ENCORE",at NHK Hall in Tokyo.

As this marked the group's first and final concert, SDN48 performed a total of 37 songs in tears. While being encouraged by the crowd, all 39 members graduated together, putting an end to the group's 2 year and 7 month career.

During the encore, the girls appeared on stage wearing mini wedding dresses and formed a single file line.Captain Noro Kayo reflected, "We started with just 20 members on August 1, 2009. We're able to stand on this stage because of the fans and the staff that continued to support us." She then gave thanks to the fans saying, "With our 1st album, 'NEXT ENCORE', we were able to achieve our goal of topping the Oricon charts."

Noro also called out, "We, SDN48, weren't able to leave a big record like AKB48, but we hope to be a team that will remain in everyone's memories."

As the intro of "Owaranai Encore" started playing during the double encore, the fans took out their penlights and illuminated the venue with a white light. The members responded by forming the letters 'S', 'D', and 'N', while sitting on the grand staircase.

After singing their last number, "Kodoku na Runner", the members turned their backs to the audience with regretful looks upon their faces. The crowd broke out in a 'SDN' call as if trying to stop the girls from leaving. The members hugged each other, cried aloud, and waved to the audience with a smile.

Since announcing SDN48's graduation last October, producer Akimoto Yasushi has received written petitions from 5,800 people, asking him to withdraw from his decision. Although the group will not continue their activities, SDN48 is scheduled to hold a reunion event in a year.
