Miura Daichi holds first concert at Nippon Budoukan

allkpop

Singer Miura Daichi (24) recently held his first performance at the Nippon Budoukan on May 3rd. Miura debuted as a solo singer seven years ago and on standing on such "holy ground" for the first time he stated, "I had held on to my goal that I wanted to stand on the Budoukan's stage by the time I was 24. And finally, today I am able to stand here." With his powerful production and performance, he performed 25 songs including the encore. He expressed his deep emotions to the 10,000 fans gathered, saying, "I'm so happy. To the point where I could say that this moment is everything, maybe, this space is so precious to my life."

After debuting as a member of dance unit Folder in 1997, he made a new start as a solo artist in 2005. Often called the "Japanese Michael Jackson", Miura, who debuted at the age of 9, has finally been able to make his 15 year wish come true with his high-quality performances.

Miura said shyly, "It feels very strange to be talking on this stage." He gripped his microphone tightly, saying "I'm full of gratitude, to the point that even if I used every word, it wouldn't sound serious enough. Today I'd like to simply express my feelings with song and music."

In addition to showing off songs such as his new tune "Two Hearts" with his sharp dance and masterful singing, Miura also charmed the audience with a rendition of his popular song "Lullaby" while playing the piano. Halfway through the show, he said, "There's someone who I want to thank on this stage no matter what", and his good friend, rapper KREVA, took the stage as a secret guest. The two shook hands firmly at the center of the stage and performed "Shinkirou" to the audience's great delight.

Miura, who bowed his head countless times while looking out at the crowd, said "I don't know what I should say, but I'm so full of these feelings the words 'thank you' seem to lose all meaning." Looking back over his journey up until now, he swore to do even better, saying "I'm thinking of this as a new start line and not the goal at all. I'd like to keep going forward step by step like I have up until now."
