It has just been announced that Tezuka Osamu's famous manga, "Ningen Konchuuki" (The Book of Human Insects), will get its first screen adaptation in a drama starring actress Minami, and the show will be broadcast on WOWOW beginning on July 30th!

The original work was serialized in "Play Comic" from 1970-1971, and it's an ironic work centering on the wicked Tomura Toshiko. The manga compares her preying�on the lifestyles of the men, and the confusion of society, to the world of insects. Out of all of Tezuka's works, this is said to be one of his very few pieces about the dark side of human nature.

In the drama, Toshiko (played by Minami) constantly changes her profession as though she were an insect molting, jumping from actress to designer to author. As the story goes, however, it's shown that these feats are accomplished not with her own talent, but by perfectly copying the talents of the people who surround her.

Also co-starring in the show are ARATA, Kuze Seika, and Tsurumi Shingo, making for a unique group of names attached to the project.

The drama will broadcast every Saturday at midnight, and will be broadcast in seven episodes.
