On July 1st, visual-kei group heidi. appeared as guests at AM2, a Japanese pop-culture event that was�held at the Anaheim Convention Center.� �Vocalist Yoshihiko greeted guests in English with �Hello! We are heidi.!�� The group heated up their first American stage with their song �Utakata.�
The group also performed 13 of their songs including the song, "Yokan," which was used as the ending theme to the television anime �Kaichou wa Maid-sama!�� As there were fans who mouthed the lyrics to �Yokan,� the four group members showed smiles towards the lively crowd.
To conclude their 1 hour-long live performance, before the chorus of �Omaesan,� the music stopped and there was �Yoshihiko Time.�� Although the band only played for one day, Yoshihiko promised to return to the United States again.
Drummer Kiri said �It was truly exciting and the atmosphere was good.� Surprisingly, I wasn't nervous and was honestly happy.�� Guitarist Nao said with satisfaction regarding the group�s first live performance in the U.S. �Honestly, the liveliness brought us the highest level of enjoyment.�
Bassist Kousuke said, �I didn�t know what to expect as this was our first time overseas, but I want to come again soon because of the overwhelmingly positive responses.� Although it is not very much, I am happy that I am able to impart a bit of Japanese music.�� Yoshihiko expressed a burning desire to once again perform in the U.S. when he said �I was able to look forward to this in a way different than when we are in Japan.� I learned a lot.� When we come again, I want to have even more lively guests.�
In addition to their live performance, heidi. Also appeared at the show of Sixh., which is affiliated with popular visual-kei fashion brand h.Naoto.
AM2 is a free event that introduces Japanese anime, manga, music, fashion and culture to the U.S.� The event started in 2010 and their first guest was Hello! Project�s Mano Erina. For their 2nd year (2011), they expanded the size of the event and held the event until July 3.� They gathered a wide array of artists including Wakeshima Kanon, SCANDAL, and Sadie, and were successful in raising the popularity of Japanese pop-culture as the event was packed with 20,000 people.
