It's been revealed that singer Hiyoshi Mimi passed away on August 10th from pancreatic cancer. She was 64 years old. Her funeral will be a family-only event, as per her and her family's wishes.
Hiyoshi, whose real name was Kurosawa Kazuko, debuted in 1967 under the stage name Ike Kazuko. After three unsuccessful singles, she re-debuted as Hiyoshi Mimi in 1969. Her 1970 single "Otoko to Onna no Ohanashi" was a massive hit, earning her a spot on the 21st Kohaku Uta Gassen later that year.
Hiyoshi was first diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2008. After a successful surgery, she entered the hospital again due to relapse this spring. Our condolescences to her family, friends, and fans.
