It's been revealed that Sakamoto Maaya will be starring in the musical, "Ashinaga Ojisan", next fall.

"Ashinaga Ojisan" is based on a famous novel by American author Jean Webster. The story was previously adapted into a musical starring Okazaki Yuki, Harada Tomoyo, and Mana Kana.

The script will be written and directed by John Caird, who is known for "Les Miserables", "The Beggar's Opera", and "Candide".�Sakamoto will play the heroine, 'Judy', and Inoue Yoshio will co-star as 'Jervis'.

The musical will open at Hibiya Theater Crea in September 2012.
