On April 7th, actress Kawaguchi Haruna and actor Hayami Mokomichi attended a press conferencefor their drama, 'Houkago wa Mystery to tomo ni.'

As his first time co-starring with Kawaguchi, Hayami commented on his first impressions on the actress saying, "When she first came to greet me, her first words were ,'Your skin is dark.' I thought she was a simple girl. During filming, Haruna-chan was the mood maker. She's cheerful and fun."

Meanwhile, Kawaguchi commented on Hayam, saying, "He's a really serious person. But, he's a little different. We were on a quiz show for drama promotions and we lost. During filming the next day, he suddenly started laughing and said, 'We lost yesterday's quiz'..."

'Houkago wa Mystery to tomo ni' is based on a comical mystery novel by Higashigawa Tokuya, who is also the author of 'Nazotoki wa Dinner no Ato de.' Set at Koigakubo Academy on the outskirts of Tokyo, the drama's story revolves around a student namedKirigamine Ryou (Kawaguchi)who investigates the truth of mysterious affairs happening at the school. Her reasoning ends up to be full of faults; however, she is able to solve the cases with the help of her teacher Ishizaki Hiromi (Hayami), detective Karasuyama Chitose (Iriyama Noriko), and detective Soshigaya Taizo (Takashima Masanobu).

Producer Kanbe Akira explained his reason for choosing Kawaguchi, saying, "Kawaguchi-san has the image of throwing smoke balls like Nolan Ryan (former major league baseball pitcher). When comparing her to an actress, she's like Natsume Masako-san. Though I've never worked or met with Natsume-san before."

He also described Hayami's acting, "He shows a fine performance like Tatsukawa Mitsuo's (former catcher for Hiroshima) 'fake dead ball'. His looks are like Darvish Yu."

In the drama, Kawaguchi challenged herself to action scenes. She seemed to enjoy herself as she said, "There are baseball scenes and fighting scenes. The scene where I kick people is a good feeling. It made me want to try martial arts. Maybe, I like martial arts."

'Houkago wa Mystery to tomo ni' will air on TBS every Mondays starting April 23rd.
