Producer Ueno Hiroyuki commented on the young cast saying, "'Sprout' means 'shinme' (sprout). I want to dig up new talents." He also praised Chinen with, "What is essential to a shoujo manga is the protagonist's freshness and aura. He possesses both those things."
Chinen has starred in NTV's 'Scrap Teacher ~Kyoshi Saisei' back in 2008 alongside Yamada Ryosuke and other Hey! Say! JUMP members. This will mark his first time starring in a drama series by himself. "I'm more nervous than usual, but I want to enjoy playing my role. I will do my best to make people's hearts throb," he expressed.
