On July 28th, child actress Ashida Mana attended a press conference for the Hollywood film, 'Pacific Rim' (opens in theaters on August 9th in Japan).
Director Guillermo del Toro commented on Ashida saying, "I feel very sorry for making her cry for many days during filming," and continued, "She is a genius. She is very wise, you'd think she's 50-years-old, and she's also a fine actress."
This movie marked Ashida's Hollywood debut. Regarding the filming, she said, "I was surprised that each person had a camping car as their dressing room." She also reflected, "In Japan, they say, 'Ready, start!', so I thought it was cool that they say 'Action!' in Hollywood."
'Pacific Rim' is a science fiction film that portrays a war between humankind and giant monsters. Aside from Ashida and director Guillermo del Toro, Kikuchi Rinko also attended the press conference.
