The reign of 'Kaze Tachinu' continues, 'Star Trek Into Darkness' opens in 3rd, and 'Gatchaman' in 6th place.

Studio Ghibli's 'Kaze Tachinu' achieved its 6th victory, even though a distinct decline in viewers compared to the previous weekend could definitely be seen this time. One more victory and it will exceed the winning streak of Ghibli's own 'Ponyo' from 2008.

As for the box office, 'Kaze Tachinu' has already surpassed the 8 billion Yen mark. The 8 billion Yen mark was also surpassed by 'Monsters University' on the 2nd place.

'Star Trek Into Darkness' opened in 3rd with a decent result and a noticeably higher opening-weekend revenue than the first film in the new series. Meanwhile, 'Gatchaman' - starring Matsuzaka Tori among others - only managed to open in 6th place with a rather unsatisfying result.
