NHK's year-end music program 'The 74th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen'was broadcast live from NHK Hall, Tokyo to close out 2023, and this year's winner was the red team!

The scoring was as follows: judges voted7 redand 1 white, venue attendees 1,453 red and 883 white, and the viewers 3,943,182 red and 2,457,277 white. With this, the red team has a total of 34 wins and the white team a total of 40 wins.

This year's hosts were Ariyoshi Hiroiki, Hashimoto Kanna, Hamabe Minami, and Takase Kozo. The theme was 'Borderless -New Year's Eve That Transcends and Connects.' The guest judges were athletes Kitaguchi Haruka and Kunieda Shingo, writer Tawara Machi, actors Sakai Masato, Terajima Shinobu, and Yoshitaka Yuriko, ballet dancer Terada Nobuhiro, and comedian Bakarhythm.
