Renowned for his contributions to the record-breaking JPOP group KAT-TUN, Kazuya Kamenashi is back in the spotlight, starring in the romantic thriller "Destiny," now streaming internationally on Netflix.

The much-anticipated drama centers on the reunion between Prosecutor Kanade Nishimura (played by veteran actress Satomi Ishihara) and her former college flame, Maki Nogi (portrayed by Kamenashi), after a hiatus of 12 years. As their paths intersect once more, the reunion unlocks memories from their youth, propelling them into the complex currents of a fate that spans two decades.

In a statement regarding his role, Kamenashi expressed his enthusiasm for returning to the small screen after a nine-year hiatus since his last appearance in a TV Asahi drama, "Second Love" (2015). He conveyed his gratitude for the opportunity to collaborate once again with Producer Nakagawa, highlighting the expansive narrative scope that spans two decades. Kamenashi also commended Ishihara's lead performance, noting her versatility and unwavering dedication to her craft.

"
I've appeared with Ishihara-san on variety shows before, and I always felt that she brings a sense of flexibility along with a firm commitment to her work. It's a coincidence that we both go to the same hair salon."

Reflecting on their collaboration, Kamenashi remarked on Ishihara's leadership and passion on set, underscoring her warmth and kindness as both an actress and a person. He noted the resonance between Ishihara's portrayal of Kanade's sincerity and her own personality.

Furthermore, Kamenashi praised the depth and immersion offered by Ms. Yoshida's script, describing it as a conduit that allows him to fully engage with the dialogue and scenarios, leading him to a satisfying conclusion. He likened the experience to "jumping up on his own" with the narrative's flow, emphasizing the power of Yoshida's writing.

"Destiny" promises viewers a captivating journey filled with twists and turns, as Kamenashi's return to the screen alongside Ishihara sets the stage for a gripping romantic thriller. The drama is now available on Netflix, rolling out first in East Asia, Thailand, and English-speaking territories, with more regions set to follow suit. Each new episode will be uploaded the day after its domestic broadcast, ensuring audiences worldwide can stay up to date with the unfolding drama.
