On December 24, rock band THE ALFEE performed at the Nihon Budoukan in Kitanomaru, Tokyo.

In an yearly tradition for the group, the band held their annual Christmas performance. Guitarist Sakazaki Konosuke (58) greeted fans with, “We have come for the annual performance.  This is our 81st time [performing at the Nihon Budokan.]  I do not know when it will be our 100th time, but like usual, we have come in high spirits!”

When they performed their newest song, “Final Wars!,” which is currently being used as the theme song of TV Tokyo’s “Ultraman Retsuden” (Wednesday at 5 PM), the Ultraman Zero family joined the group on stage.  It was a fun Christmas Eve atmosphere as they performed 23 songs for 9000 excited audience members.

NHK’s popular music program, MUSIC JAPAN, has revealed the artist line-up for its March 18th broadcast!

When you think of the drink ‘FANTA‘, most of you probably think of the “FANTA girls”. But in Japan, it’s an entirely different  group. Coca-Cola – the beverage company who makes ‘FANTA’ – put together a session band of celebrities who  each represent a letter from the ‘FANTA’ brand.

The bandmates are: Martin Friedman (‘F’), Ayanokoji Sho from Kishidan (‘A’), Tanimura Nana (‘N’), Takamizawa Toshihiko from THE ALFEE (‘T’), and Akebono Taro (‘A’).

The ‘band’ has already launched a series of commercials for the ‘FANTA’ drink, but this time, they’ve released a full music video for their debut song, “Fantasic Love“. It’s  also the CM song for the ‘FANTA’ commerical, “Ano koro“.

Rock band THE ALFEE will be releasing their sixthieth single “Let It Go” on May 3rd, and have already scored multiple tie-ups to help promote the release.

“Let It Go” will be used as the image song for the 30th Commemoration Osaka International Women’s University Marathon. Meanwhile, the B-side “Boukenshatachi – Beyond the Adventure” has been confirmed as the official support song for the 2011 World Series Yokohama Triathlon.

The single will be released in three different versions in support of its tie-ups, with the covers featuring shots to related to each event.

This week’s episode of “MUSIC JAPAN” boasted a hot line-up of stars and idols! Japan’s premier idol group, AKB48, dropped by to deliver a stirring performance of “Beginner“, and also chatted about the different ways they’re contributing towards power conservation efforts.

Inawashirokozu also performed a song of motivation and support for those directly affected by the March 11th disasters,

Meanwhile, pop-rock group SCANDAL performed their hit track, “Haruka“, while The Alfee rocked out “Let It Go“.
