allkpop

Young actor Takasugi Mahiro (14) has landed the leading role in an upcoming movie titled"Quartet," directed by Mitsumura Junichi. This will be Takasugi's first leading role after debuting only a year and a half ago. He was chosen out of three hundred other young actors that auditioned for the role. Although at first feeling the pressure, Takasugi later commented,"I've been chosen for the role even with the little experience I have. I have to work hard to exceed everyone's expectations."

For those that do not know who Takasugi Mahiro is, here's a short profile: Born on July 4, 1996 in Fukuoka prefecture, Takasugi Mahiro was scouted at a fireworks festival in 2008. He made his debut in the stage play titled "Every Little Thing" in August of 2009. He recently played a role in the stage play of "Joan of Arc," alongside Horikita Maki.

Takasugi will be playing the role of an extraordinarily talentedviolinistby the name of Nagae Hiraku. It is a story about how a family on the verge of falling apart, comes back together after forming a classical quartet. The father will be played by Hosokawa Shigeki (39) and Tsuruta Mayu (40) will be playing his mother. Also, actress Goriki Ayame (18) will be playing the role of the older sister.

Production for the film will take place in Urayasu city in Chiba prefecture. Shooting begins in March and Takasugi is already busy at work learning the violin. He remarked, "I'll be able to play well, so I hope people watch the movie."

The film "Quartet" directed by Mitsumura Junichi is scheduled to be released this winter.
