On July 27th, former AKB48 member Iwata Karen's agency announced that she has tested positive for COVID-19. 

According to her agency, Iwata had a sore throat on July 22nd, so she refrained from going outdoors on the 22nd and 23rd. She started feeling fatigue on the 24th, so she stayed home on that day also. Then on the 25th, she recorded a low-grade fever of 37.6℃ (99.68°F), so she received the antigen test, which showed up positive. Although she hasn't taken the PCR test, she was diagnosed with the novel coronavirus due to her symptoms.

Currently, Iwata is in the hospital on the road to recovery. She has no fever and is not feeling fatigue anymore.
