Ichimura Masachika and Shinohara Ryoko have announced their divorce.

The couple submitted their divorce papers at a local ward office on July 24. Ichimura has custody of their two children, and there will be no consolation money nor division of property. 

Ichimura explained, "Due to the coronavirus, I lived apart from my family last year during filming to prevent infection and focused on acting. However, as work came one after another, being separated became my basic lifestyle. As such, I started thinking about things differently as a husband, parent, and actor." He added, "As actors and parents, we will support our children from now on as new partners." 

On Ichimura, Shinohara commented, "He is an important figure who guided and cared for me." She continued, "So it might be difficult to comprehend how things turned out this way, but we talked about how I wanted to create a new environment."
