On November 3, Arashi members Aiba Masaki, Matsumoto Jun, Ninomiya Kazunari, and Sakurai Sho made a surprise appearance at a stage greeting for their live film 'ARASHI Anniversary Tour 5×20 FILM ~Record of Memories~' at Marunouchi Piccadilly in Tokyo.
As the crowd gave a big round of applause, Sakurai said to Aiba, "In the back, we were worried whether or not everyone would be pleased, but I'll bet you're glad Aiba-kun!" Aiba responded, "I'm glad. I thought everyone had gone home. Thank you!" Sakurai continued, "We made an appearance because today, November 3 is our 22nd debut anniversary day. Thank you for your support."
Then, Matsumoto greeted, "Long time no see. I hadn't made any public appearances until recently. I am also nervous standing here with these three. This will be short, but please treat me well." Ninomiya joked, "Now that everyone has seen it, we are going to be talking about it, but one thing. Please remember my name when you go home!"
First, the members shared a recent episode involving the five members. Sakurai commented, "Exactly a week ago, the five of us including Ohno-san drank together," revealing that the five of them got together for the first time since the end of 2020. Ninomiya moved the audience to laughter by saying, "That person was alive," and Aiba reflected, "I was happy to see everyone."
On the live film, Matsumoto stated, "Editing took some time, but that means it's in the best condition." During this concert, cinematographers joined the members on stage which usually doesn't happen at their concerts. Sakurai mentioned, "[I thought] the cameramen are on the moving stage with us. We got cameramen that we've known for a long time together, so I was a little worried [that they would fall off the stage]." Matsumoto added, "We invited cameramen that we've worked with for our movies and dramas. They were all in front of the stage. That really moved me."
Towards the end of the event, Matsumoto announced, "The other day when the five of us met, we talked about many things. Is there anybody who came to watch Ohno-san today? I have good news. I have received a message from Ohno-san." Then, Sakurai delivered Ohno's message, "I was asked to give a comment regarding our film release, but I don't know what to say... Honestly, that was us about two years ago, so I thought about it. When I look back, the five of us at that time held the concert only thinking about our fans. In addition to director Tsusumi, who is indispensable to our history, this film is full of the thoughts of all of the staff involved with the film and all of our fans, so it would make me happy if you would watch it! It opens to the public nationwide on my birthday. I will be 41 years old. Please enjoy watching us in our earnest state, including me who was 39 years old at the time."
At the end, the four members each delivered a comment. Aiba said, "Arashi's 20 years is in this film, so I hope a lot of people watch it." Matsumoto expressed, "November 3 is a meaningful day for us. The thoughts of Arashi's fans, including everyone who came to the venue and everyone who came to Dolby Cinemas across Japan, through messages and SNS, are properly conveyed to us. I hope that this work will be loved by many people as well as Arashi's fans for a long time. I hope to continue creating memories together, so please enjoy it." Ninomiya kept fans entertained until the end saying, "Today, November 3, is our debut day. To have our movie released on such a day, I am a really happy person. Also, thank you to the venue and everyone at Shochiku for giving us this opportunity. If possible, I will be waiting for a solo movie!" Finally, Sakurai conveyed his feelings, "When I look across the venue, I saw many messages written on the message board by the reception area. It warmed my heart. What we have lost due to the coronavirus disaster... you buy your ticket, head to the venue, get excited, enjoy the concert, memories linger in your head, you talk about it with everybody... I feel that we have lost those moments before and after the concert. Through this movie, I feel like those moments can be experienced from the day you purchase your tickets until you come to the theaters. I hope you experience the excitement once more by getting your tickets and watching the concert at the movies."
'ARASHI Anniversary Tour 5×20 FILM ~Record of Memories~' is now available for viewing at Dolby Cinemas. It will be released in theaters nationwide on November 26.
