Actor Takeuchi Ryoma has been cast in TV Asahi's drama 'Roppongi Class,' a remake of the hit South Korean drama series 'Itaewon Class.'
Set in the Roppongi district of Tokyo, Miyabe Shin (Takeuchi) lives an ordinary life with his father. His life completely changes after an incident caused by the son of Nagaya Holdings, the country's largest restaurant franchise. When the chairman of Nagaya Holdings uses his power to cover up his son's crime, Shin falls into despair. He makes it his goal in life to seek revenge on them, while sticking to his principles as his father taught him to do.
Takeuchi commented, "Of course I knew 'Itaewon Class' was a hot topic. I watched it too, and thought it was a great drama. So I was surprised when I received the offer." He added, "It's amazing that it will be getting a remake set in Tokyo. I also feel very honored to be chosen. I want to do my best."
Takeuchi also changed his hairstyle for the upcoming role. Apparently, there were suggestions that he use the same exact hairstyle as the protagonist of 'Itaewon Class,' Park Saeroyi. However, he wanted to create a hairstyle based on his image as well as the staff's image of Miyabe Shin.
'Roppongi Class' is scheduled to air from July. More cast members will be added at a later date.
