Def Tech, a reggae duo consisting of Shen, who was raised in Hawaii, and Micro, from Tokyo, is kicking off their 20th anniversary year.
Formed in 2003, the group gained major recognition with their hit song "My Way" used in a tire company commercial. Their debut self-titled album, released in 2005, which included the song "My Way," sold approximately 2 million copies. In 2005, they became the first indie artists to perform at the '56th NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen' (Red and White Song Festival). Although they disbanded in 2007 due to musical differences, they resumed their activities in 2010.
As part of their anniversary project, they have unveiled a special underwater graphic and dedicated website, which pays homage to the cover art of their first album.
On the special website, an acapella track that highlights the harmonious roots of the duo, as well as a special video featuring them diving underwater, will be available. Fans can also participate in a campaign by sharing their posts with the hashtag "#まだまだデフるぜ" (#StillDefingIt), alongside various images celebrating the duo’s 20-year history.
Additionally, starting in March, they will launch their 'Double Up Tour,' with guest artists including Crystal Kay, MINMI, C&K, and HY. The tour will also feature collaboration songs, a tradition of the duo’s live performances.
