A new variety show, 3-Nen C-Gumi Sashihara × Shota, is set to premiere exclusively on Prime Video Japan on April 17 at midnight. The four-episode series brings together Rino Sashihara and Snow Man’s Shota Watanabe, who share a unique connection—they were high school classmates.

For the first time, the two will publicly challenge themselves to overcome personal weaknesses in a show that blends humor, self-improvement, and candid moments. Sashihara, reflecting on the unexpected reunion, joked, “I can’t believe I’m doing a show with Shota Watanabe—I’d love to tell our old teacher about this! Through this program, I realized that neither of us is particularly good at just living life normally (laughs).”

The first episode follows Watanabe as he goes undercover as a new employee at heart relation, the apparel brand founded by former AKB48 member Haruna Kojima. Tasked with navigating an unfamiliar workplace, he must face one of his biggest challenges—communicating with women. Later, he takes on another test, visiting the dressing rooms of celebrities like Anna Murashige, Kasumi Mori, and members of ≠ME to practice proper introductions.

While Sashihara initially observes Watanabe’s struggles from a monitor, she soon finds herself stepping into the spotlight. Both stars, who admit to struggling with social interactions, take on bold missions—including Watanabe attempting a first date scenario and Sashihara participating in a “serious” matchmaking event. “I haven’t really shown my true self or talked about myself much lately, so I think people will see a ‘Sashihara they haven’t seen in a while.’ Honestly, I kind of don’t want people to watch it!” she admitted with a laugh.

For Watanabe, the show is an opportunity to step outside of his comfort zone. “I never imagined I’d get to do a show with Sashiko, my high school classmate. It’s a dream job, and I was genuinely happy,” he said. “But in this show, you’ll see all my bad habits. It really made me realize how much my fans usually spoil me… I might come off as totally useless, but I hope people can enjoy that part of me and have a good laugh!”

With a mix of lighthearted challenges and revealing moments, 3-Nen C-Gumi Sashihara × Shota offers an entertaining glimpse into the duo’s dynamic as they navigate their personal hurdles together.
