A violent stabbing at a popular Tokyo Pokémon store has led to the temporary closure of both the Pokémon Center and the Pikachu Sweets Café.
On March 26, the Pokémon Company announced that its flagship "Pokémon Center Mega Tokyo," located in Ikebukuro's Sunshine City, will close temporarily following a violent incident at the store. The company said they are fully cooperating with police and prioritizing the mental and physical well-being of its employees. "We deeply apologize for the concern and inconvenience caused," they said. Reopening plans will be announced at a later date.
According to reports, the attack occurred on March 26 around 7:15 p.m. A female employee in her 20s was stabbed by a man with a knife, and the man also stabbed himself in the neck area. They were both transported to a hospital, where their deaths were later confirmed. Authorities are still investigating the details of this incident.
