Mrs. GREEN APPLE frontsman Motoki Ohmori will appear in the upcoming film SUKIYAKI Ue wo Muite Arukou, set to open in theaters on December 25.
The film is a fictionalized story based on the creation of the hit song "Ue wo Muite Arukou," known internationally as "Sukiyaki." Junichi Okada stars as composer Hachidai Nakamura, Tori Matsuzaka as lyricist Rokusuke Ei, and Taiga Nakano as singer Kyu Sakamoto.
Ohmori will play singer Hiroshi Mizuhara, who won the inaugural Japan Record Award with "Kuroi Hanabira," a song written by Nakamura and Ei. Ohmori will also perform the song in the film.
Ohmori previously worked with director Takahisa Zeze when Mrs. GREEN APPLE provided "Soranji" as the theme song for his 2022 film Fragments of the Last Will. His appearance in SUKIYAKI comes as a special guest role.
The film also stars Nana Seino, Mone Kamishiraishi, Riho Yoshioka, Riisa Naka, Lilas Ikuta, Tao Tsuchiya, Hiroshi Abe, Hiroko Yakushimaru, and others.
