SDN48 to debut as major group

Sister unit of AKB48, SDN48, has announced they will debut under Universal Record in the fall.  SDN48 stands for SaturDay Night 48, and all the members are 20 years old or older.  SDN48 is meant as an “adult version” of AKB48, and fans under 18 years old can not attend to their performances.

Before they release their first single, they are currently holding an “SDN48 General election” on their TV show “Suppon no onnatachi”, and 12 members out of the 37 who are chosen in the election will be able to participate in their debut single.

The way of the election goes is:

1. Popularity poll on the TV show “Suppon no onnatachi” through TV Asahi’s mobile site (currently holding the 5th popularity poll: July 28th ~August 10th)
2. Number of each members’ pictures downloaded (paid) through TV Asahi’s mobile site
3. Reference number of each members’ official blog

The final day of the election will be on September 4th.

    Heavy Rotation is not considered as “adult material” based on the context of this article…..
    And since they are going for the 18+…. then they are going for the “adult material”

    How exposed or to what extent of showing will they consider “adult material” now?
    It is giving me the chills thinking about how would it be…… O_O

    HURRAYYYYYYY!!!!!!!! I’m very happy for this, I love AKB48 but I wanna see SDN pwn them >:)! But my god I wish Nachu would have stayed in the 2nd gen and I really hope she doesn’t get voted in and is just an undergirl on the debut single because that is one scary looking ganguro! There are a lot of Nachu fans out there to and that’s even scarier!

    ok, so i’m not hating but just from what i’ve noticed and observed is that AKB48 has been getting a lot of opinion about their recent PV which was a lil inappropriate for their age to dress up in a lingerie and start having a lil girl on girl action even though they made it like its not a big deal.. now my question is, if that isn’t adult PV, then you mean SDN48 will do more than what AKB48 wore and actions on their PV?

    it’s a good news!. But strange. Why fans under 18th not allowed to come to their concert. How are they supposed to do during the concert? They’re not JAV artis rite? I mean, you can’t come to Yuma asami or Mihiro Fans Club if you under 18th. They want to share music or what???

    SKE48 is Sakae 48, based in Nagoya. And anyway, management is planning to lift the 18+ restriction, so you don’t need to ruminate on the naughty possibilities.

    SDN has already been performing stages since last year (I believe that’s when they debut). They’re just going to finally debut as an actual group for the charts now. As far as I know they’re shows are not as adult as you all think it is, I mean they don’t go out nude and start humping guys legs like some cheap stripper. They just wear sexy clothing, have suggestive lyrics and dance more adult rather then the cute dancing AKB and SKE does (you know, the peace sign in front of your eye stuff?) for their shows. From what I’ve heard they’re a lot more fun then AKB and SKE! Also AKB doesn’t perform on stage like they did in that “Heavy Rotation” PV, that’s why they’re shows are for all ages. I have a feeling that Akimoto is going to tone SDN down a bit for their PVs and songs though to make it enjoyable for all demographics.

    lmoa i’m starting to get to know AKB48 and so far i recognize abour 5 girls faces only and 1 name. I’m not a fan of these 48 groups because it’s basically a group where they put in girls who want to be famous and if they aren’t popular they get kicked out in an instant. Also 18+? what are they thinking of doing anyways.
