It has recently been revealed that a big blockbuster film will begin shooting on May 15th. The film will be a�Toei production, titled "Rengo kantai shirei chokan Yamamoto Isoroku", and will star actor Yakusho Koji.

This movie will depict the war times of World War II during the outbreak of conflict between the US and Japan. It will also portray the course and beliefs of a Japanese man of the time.

In the midst of Japan's recovery from the earthquake and tsunami, the producers expressed their hope to show what leadership should look like. 2011 marks the 70th anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor, which was lead by Yamamoto Isoroku, the main character of this upcoming film. Through letters, it is expressed that the attacks were aimed to gain peace and harmony.

Yakusho Koji will be playing the role of Yamamoto Isoroku, and the movie will follow the life of Yamamoto, from his love for peace to his growth into a leader, and to his death in the Solomon Islands.

The movie has been in the planning stages for the past four years. Productions costs are estimated to be around 100,000,000 yen (approximately 1 million dollars) and will use a lot of computer graphics and special effects for the war scenes. Shooting begins on May 15h in Tokyo, and with the cooperation of the Ministry of Defense, the production crew will be shooting scenes across the country of Japan.

Production officials state, "Yamamoto learned at Harvard University to familiarize with the differences between US and Japan in national power. He aimed to achieve peace at an early stage by letting the US lose and surrender with a surprise attack. Thinking about humanity and Japan's future, Yamamoto was an individual who had a global perspective and looked forward decisively. At the time, the prime ministers had changed a lot and the citizens were suffering from uncertainty. In this similar situation we are in now, we hope to explore what real leadership is."

Yaksuho was said to be the "only one" who could play this role, and he commented, "We should never repeat war. That is why we must reflect on war and life at the time to learn about the people and their lives. I feel humbled to be a part of this fantastic film."

The director of the film commented, "I believe that revealing the truth of the day and time will light up hope inside and inspire people to protect what's important to them."

The movie is scheduled to be released in December, and although that may be far away, there is no doubt that this movie will be something to look forward to.
